Prof. Dr. Selçuk Erkılınç, MD
I was born in Elazığ in 1982, where I also completed my primary and secondary education. In 2002, I was admitted to Ankara University Faculty of Medicine and graduated in 2009.
During my medical education, I participated in international exchange programs. In 2009, I was appointed to Uşak Sivaslı State Hospital as a general practitioner. In the same year, following the Medical Specialization Examination (TUS), I commenced my residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ankara Dr. Zekai Tahir Burak Women’s Health Training and Research Hospital. During my residency, I served as the national representative for ENTOG (European Network of Trainees in Obstetrics and Gynecology) within EBCOG (European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology). In 2017, I took an active role in founding the Turkish Trainees in Obstetrics and Gynecology (TTOG) under the Turkish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (TJOD) and served as its president.
I organized international exchange programs for Obstetrics and Gynecology residents. In 2017, under the auspices of ENTOG, I coordinated exchange programs in Antalya for Obstetrics and Gynecology residents coming from various European countries.
Furthermore, I organized the “Resident Schools” held under TJOD and coordinated numerous scientific meetings in Ankara and Istanbul. After completing my specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2014, I began my mandatory civil service at Afyonkarahisar Women’s Diseases and Children’s Hospital. In 2015, I passed the Minor Specialization Examination in Medicine and started my subspecialty training in Gynecological Oncology Surgery at İzmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital. During my subspecialty training, I participated in numerous cadaver training courses both in Turkey and abroad. I completed my subspecialty training in Gynecological Oncology Surgery in 2018.
Following the evaluation by the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK), I was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2019. In the same year, I was appointed to the Gynecological Oncology Surgery Clinic at Isparta City Hospital for my mandatory service. After working in this clinic for 3.5 years, I left in 2021 to join the İzmir Demokrasi University Faculty of Medicine as the Founding Faculty Member and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I performed my clinical procedures at the İzmir Demokrasi University Buca Seyfi Demirsoy Training and Research Hospital. During my tenure, I enabled the clinic to gain the status of a “Medical Training Clinic” in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and specialization training was initiated for the first time. I served as the Head of the Department in this clinic for 5 years.
I was entitled to the rank of Professor in 2025. I left İzmir Demokrasi University in March 2026. As of April 2026, I have been working as a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine.
